Privacy Policy

Shaotouken ("we", "us") is an email-based question service run by a small team in Taiwan. We take the protection of your personal data seriously and handle it in line with Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act and other laws that apply. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have.

1. Scope of data collection

We only collect what you choose to send us by email:

• If you ask a question: your email address, the name shown in your email, and the content of your message, including any photos or files you attach.
• If you apply for a role: the information you include in your application, such as your background, languages and availability.
• Technical details that email systems add automatically, such as the time a message was sent.

Our website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts. The question composer and our oracle tools (fortune sticks, tarot, the Purple Star chart, the Golden Furnace and sayings) run only in your browser. Birth dates and anything else you enter there are never sent to us. The Golden Furnace remembers how many tokens you have burned in your own browser’s storage, which you can clear at any time. The composer simply opens your own email app.

You're free not to give us any particular information, though without enough detail we may not be able to answer your question well. Please don't send ID numbers, passwords, bank details, health records or other sensitive data.

2. How we process and use your data

• To read, research and answer your question, and to follow up with you about it.
• To consider your application and contact you about it.
• To keep our service safe, for example by blocking spam or abusive messages.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or send you marketing emails.

We rely on a few service providers, who process your data only to provide their service to us:

• Email delivery: Cloudflare routes messages sent to our address, and our mailboxes are hosted by Google.
• AI tools: to prepare answers, we may send the content of your question, including attached images, to AI model providers such as Anthropic.

We keep your emails only as long as needed to answer your question and handle follow-ups, and no longer than 12 months, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.

Shaotouken is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has written to us, let us know and we'll delete the message.

3. Your rights

You may ask us at any time to:

• tell you what data we hold about you, or give you a copy of it;
• correct or add to that data;
• stop using it, or delete it.

Send your request to the email address below. We'll reply within the time limits set by Taiwan's Personal Data Protection Act, and we won't charge you for it.

4. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll post the new version here and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted on our home page.
